Dr Phillip Artemi
Dr Phillip Artemi first graduated from Sydney University as a Pharmacist in 1983. He then completed his MBBS (UNSW) and Master of Medicine (Sydney University) before entering Specialist Dermatology training where he attained Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. Following further training he obtained his Mohs and Laser Surgery Fellowship (Skin and Cancer Foundation, Australia). Dr Artemi is also an International Fellow of the prestigious American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology and the Asian Society for Pigment Cell Research.
Dr Artemi is the Founder and Director of The Vitiligo Centre Australia, the only centre in Australia dedicated to the treatment and research of Vitiligo. Dr Artemi is considered one of Australia’s preeminent Dermatologists in the areas of Vitiligo, Dermatologic and laser surgery. Dr Artemi is a Visiting Medical Officer in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, and the Head of Vitiligo Surgery at the Skin and Cancer Foundation Westmead where he pioneered in 2015 the introduction to Australia of autologous melanocyte transplantation in the treatment of vitiligo.
Dr Artemi is a past Director of Training (NSW Faculty), past Chairman of the Teaching Learning Committee, past Member of the Board of Directors, and past Honorary Secretary of the Australasian College of Dermatologists.
Prema completed her Bachelor of Nursing Degree from the University of Western Sydney in 2014. After beginning her career in 2015 as a Registered Nurse in Aged Care, Prema then joined South West Sydney Dermatology as a Dermatologic Nurse where her caring and enthusiastic character, and dedication to her work soon earmarked her as the perfect person to undertake further training before taking on the important position of Specialist Vitiligo Nurse at The Vitiligo Centre Australia. Prema’s role at The Vitiligo Centre Australia includes assisting in the assessment of each patient’s life quality index, the tracking of each patient’s treatment progress through digital photography, and the administering of phototherapy in conjunction with the treating Dermatologist. “I have developed various skills and knowledge in Dermatology and Vitiligo, and truly feel privileged to work closely with the team at The Vitiligo Centre Australia to provide holistic treatment and promote an improved quality life for our patients with Vitiligo”
Tina Aspres is the Research Coordinator at The Vitiligo Centre Australia and the Founder and Director of the Skin Pharmacy at South West Sydney Dermatology, the first compounding pharmacy to specialise entirely in dermatological preparations.
Tina has served as Clinical Trial Co-ordinator at South West Sydney Dermatology since 2013 and participated in numerous dermatological clinical trials on eczema, psoriasis and rosacea and is also a researcher in the area of hyperpigmentation and transdermal drug delivery systems.
Tina Aspres is a Registered Pharmacist as well as a qualified and experienced formulating Chemist with over 20 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical, personal care and cosmetic industry.
Tina Aspres is a Casual Academic in the Greater School of Health at the University of Technology Sydney and is also a published author – having co-written the book “All About Kids’ Skin’ published by ABC Books and The Eczema Management Guide for Pharmacists. Tina has also worked as an advisor to Choice Magazine, various pharmaceutical companies and is on the Eczema Association Advisory Panel. Tina is also on the Editorial Board of the Cosmetic Science Journal and contributes to articles in the Journal on a regular basis.
