Temporary Camouflage

Cosmetic skin camouflage is the commonest method by which the white patches of vitiligo can be matched to the normal surrounding skin tone. It can be used on a daily basis or applied only for special occasions. Inflammatory vitiligo where white patches are also associated with redness, dryness and/or irritation must be stabilised with medical treatment prior to cosmetic skin camouflage being applied as any further irritation of the inflamed skin may precipitate further spread of the vitiligo.

There are three options available for cosmetic skin camouflage:

Makeup

Dihydroxyacetone

Microskin
