At The Vitiligo Centre Australia, despite the cost, time consuming nature, paperwork and inevitable frustration, we find clinical research extremely rewarding because it allows significant patient interaction, is most directly related to the lives and health of our vitiligo patients. and importantly it provides the opportunity of changing the lives of vitiligo patients around the world.
Currently we are performing clinical research in the following areas:
- The effectiveness of 308nm Excimer light in the treatment of vitiligo;
- How effective are systemic immune-suppressants in halting the progression of vitiligo?
- Autologous stem cell melanocyte transplantation using the patient’s own pigment stem cells, compared to traditional skin harvesting and transplantation
