Oral medication for vitiligo

Oral medication is reserved for rapidly spreading generalised vitiligo and unstable vitiligo. The treatment option chosen is influenced by factors such as the age of the patient, the extent of the vitiligo, the speed at which it is progressing, and the medical history of the patient.

Oral drugs that can be considered include: oral steroids, minocycline, methotrexate and cyclophosphamide. This form of treatment should only be undertaken by a Dermatologist experienced in the treatment of vitiligo.
